Description
This one was pretty finely but not fussily done
He is fairly light in weight and seems perhaps to have been carved from driftwood
The glazing is great too--a purplish-gray that is subtle but cheerful
so I think most likely he was always a part of it
but none of the sides look more recently cut than any of the others
Folk Art Pyrographed Flying Pheasant on Fungus Conk cowboy This one was pretty finelyI found a great fungus conk pyrographed with an owl a month or two ago by the same maker that signed this one, both of which I purchased from the same dealer. As with that one, I love how this flying game bird, a pheasant I would guess, looks rather as if it emerged from the fungus conk itself, always there, and as roughly rendered as the craggy back side of the conk. I also like that it can be displayed sitting up, face front, or on its back, face
