The 30 gauge lancet has a tri bevel tip and is finer than a 28 gauge lancet. The result is a less painful insertion with a reduction in tissue damage. The needle is sharpened at one end in order to pierce the skin. Irradiation makes CareSens Lancet sterile. The removable cap protects and keeps the sharpened needle sterile and must be twisted
